Why Christian Literature?

The printed page is a visitor who gets inside the home
and stays there;
it always catches a man in the right mood,
for it speaks to him only when he is reading it.

A lawyer involved in the Watergate scandal became friendly with a man called Tom Phillips. Tom read to him a passage from Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis. "As he read I could feel a flush coming into my face and a curious burning sensation ... Lewis's words seemed to pound straight at me."
He took the book on vacation with him and read it through. He was challenged by it and by the end of that week he had made a commitment to Christ which sustained him through what was to come.

The lawyer was Chuck Colson.
His story can he found in Born Again.

"Books will accomplish miracles;
they will persuade men."

In prison in Thailand for the possession of heroin Rita Nightingale was on the edge of despair. Alone in her cell, looking for a handkerchief she found a booklet left by a visitor. The book was called The Reason Why by Norman Laidlaw.
In her own words: "I began to read. As I read, it seemed as if every word in the booklet had been written with me in mind ..."
She committed her life to Christ as a result.

Kids' Comments from
the Jerry Jenkin/Tim LaHaye Left Behind: the kids series

(we have this series in our CCLLibrary)

The Left Behind books brought me to God. Before I became a Christian I was a skateboarder punk who didnt listen to anybody but myself. I was a druggy, an alcholic, and a thrill seeker. But thanks to Jerry Jenkins and Tim LaHaye, I have seen the light and am now washed in the blood of the Lamb.

Hi, Mr. Jenkins, and Dr. LaHaye. I've been reading your Left Behind: The Kids series. The books are just so awesome. You are the best authors I know. I used to hate reading, but now I can hardly wait for your next book to come out. Keep up the great work.
—Taylor

The series has brought me closer to God. It taught me that kids like us can really make a difference in the world.
—Jaclyn

I'm not a young person, just a mom who has read the entire adult series and has been reading the kids series to my 9-year-old son. He can read them himself but prefers we share them together. We've both learned a lot from reading the series and look forward to our special reading time together. We're disappointed that we're almost finished with the series and are wondering how we will continue. We're hungry for more! This has definitely brought us closer to the Lord and puts the Scripture in a context that my son can better understand and relate to. We have read hundreds of books, but these are by far his favorites. Thank you so much for writing this series. It would be fantastic if you could make it into a TV or movie series. Think of all the lives it would touch.
